Precast Concrete

Precast concrete is a construction product that is produced by casting concrete in a reusable mould or form. This mould or form is then cured in a strictly controlled environment and then transported to the construction site, where it is lifted into place.

However, in contrast, standard concrete is only poured into site-specific forms and is typically cured at the project site. Similarly, precast stone is distinguished from precast concrete by using an aggregate in the concrete mixture, typically natural gravel or sand.

The making of Precast Concrete

Precast concrete has been used since the early 20th century. It significantly reduces the construction time of a building as the sections are manufactured and cured off-site while the building is being erected. Precast concrete is made by casting concrete in a mould.

This mould can be made of wood, metal, or plastic. The concrete is then left to cure in the mould. Once it is cured, the mould is removed, and the precast concrete piece is ready to be used in construction.

Affordable Precast Concrete

At Cemex Concrete Company, we realise that precast concrete products are more expensive than traditional concrete products. This is because the manufacturing process is more costly. Precast concrete products are also heavier than conventional concrete products. This means that they require more lifting equipment, and this can add to the cost of the project.

But you need not let this stop you from considering the use of precast concrete products. We are ready to consider your budget in our costing.
